The Africa Mercy® has served with Mercy Ships since 2007, bringing free specialized surgery, education and training, and an international volunteer community to countries across Africa.

Originally built as a ferry, the Africa Mercy was transformed into a hospital ship designed to bring specialized surgical care closer to people who need it.

Where is the Africa Mercy now?

The Africa Mercy is currently serving in Toamasina, Madagascar, working alongside Malagasy partners to provide free specialized surgery and education and training for healthcare professionals. The current 2026 field service runs from May to December.
